Water Testing
Thanks to grants from Alma College, The Dow Foundation, and Gratiot County Community Foundation students in 7th grade science started testing the Pine River this year.  Students at TS Nurnberger Middle School have been testing the river for phosphates, nitrates, chlorine, dissolved oxygen, PH, and bacteria this year. Students have also collected Macro Invertebrates(insects) from the river.  Students are comparing the chemical make up of the river to the quantity and quality of Macro Invertebrates in the river to get an idea of the river's health.
Congratulations Class of 2016!
After graduation practice, students boarded buses and went back in time visiting teachers and students at Carrie Knause, Nikkari, TSN and SLHS. It was a great experience for all!
BPA Nationals ~ Boston
Outstanding business students traveled to Boston, MA along with 5,000 other conference delegates May 5-9. Placing at the State and National levels is extremely difficult! This year we had six students represent us at the national conference. Congratulations to Molly Sheets on an 8th place finish in Prepared Speech. Our Business Professionals of America chapter is largely assisted in this endeavor with financial support from local businesses. Thank you for your continued support to our local BPA chapter!
Maniez ~ Alma College
student alma
Ashtyn Maniez will be playing basketball for Alma College next year!  Congratulations!
Jane Keon ~ Tombstone Town
class discussion
We want to thank Jane Keon for coming in and talking with some of our middle school students about her new book, Tombstone Town. Students have been reading St. Louis at 150 and studying in depth about the contamination that took place with Velsicol and we appreciate Jane coming in and sharing her experiences and perspective with us.
Shark Scene
The high school Shark Scene is a student generated electronic weekly newspaper where we highlight both academic and athletic achievements by our students. It is also the voice of our teachers and administrators. In the latest version of the Shark Scene, you will learn more about our new teachers, chromebook initiative, athletics, and more.
Relay for Life ~ NHS
Help us Hunt for a Cure!  Being in an organization such as National Honor Society,  we feel that it is important to serve the community in any way that we can. With the Relay for Life of Gratiot County, our club has the opportunity to walk and fundraise to help aid cancer research. In addition to walking for the event, NHS members will be selling luminary bags for $10 to be decorated and then put around the track for the event in August. These bags are an excellent way to honor a loved one that has passed away, has survived cancer, or still is battling with any form of cancer. We will also be selling small, purple feet for $1 which will be placed around the senior hallway in the high school. In addition, this is a community event, and we want to encourage you and your family to come out anytime during this 24-hr event, beginning August 12th at 3pm at Alma High School, to walk a lap or two, visit the booths and activities, or just show your support for finding a cure!  If you are interested in supporting this effort, both of these donations are greatly appreciated and it is an excellent way to show support for a great cause.  You can contact Mrs. Beery or Mrs. Dubridge at the High School, or visit relay.acsevents.org, click on the donate button, and donate to our team:  SLHS National Honor Society.  Thank you!
Shark Tales ~ Winter 2015
Shark Tales The St. Louis Sharks believe in offering our students every opportunity there is to be the absolute best they can be. We have been able to accomplish many things in a very short period of time. As the year progresses, we will continue to work hard for our students and our community. In doing so, we need to continue to work together, school and community, to be a team for the students of St. Louis. We are proud of what we do for our kids! Check out our Winter 2015 Edition of Shark Tales!
